Slept for a whole 9.5 hours last night -__-;; I was hoping it'd help with my cold, but I don't think it did. Coughing like mad for 2 hrs in comp. sci. lecture was annoying for both me and other people....>_<

Daniel went back to San Diego for a day for a doctor's appointment, and I'm bored/lonely already. So pathetic. Hmm...I'm scared about Thanksgiving and winter break...

Yes Yes YES!! I've finished the project!! And it's perfect! PERFECT I TELL YA!!!!!!
After writing 500 lines of code and hours upon hours of debugging, IT'S ALIVE!!! MUAHAHAHA!!!!! HAHAHA!!!
Now, I just have to bs the writeup...and I won't have to think of CS until I do the next project next weekend!

I've been beaten senseless by the CS project!!
Been working 2 whole days on it, and there are still annoying errors I can't fix. >_<

Trying to stall from having to do massive CS project that will supposedly take 3 entire days (yep, ditching classes Monday, probably) >_<

Let's see if anything "interesting" happened...

Well, I've been trying to get Daniel to eat more b/c he's freakin' skinny and is also losing weight like crazy. So not fair, b/c he's not even trying to lose weight, damn it! -__-;; Now I must go on 700-calorie/day diet plus force him to eat high-fat foods (and take nap right afterwards :P) just so I might be able to catch up with his weight loss...

Oh cool, just realized day-light savings ends tomorrow, so I get one more hour for CS project! (How pathetic...-_-;;)

Ug. What horrible luck. I lost my key card and managed to leave the temp key in my room, so I'm basically locked out until Chen gets back. (Apparently, I can't get a 2nd temp key and it costs 15 freaking bucks for a new key. I think I'd turn the room upside-down in search of my original key before I shell out $15 for a new one -__-;;;) So I basically just sat there for 1.5 hrs.....but at least I have access to a computer in Daniel's room now (whew....I felt so empty for a few hrs there :P)

Anyway, since I have nothing else to do (also left textbooks/hw in room....-__-;;)...I think I'll waste time by filling out one of those survey things that I saw on someone's blog. That's right, I'm that bored. Well, here goes. Hopefully Chen'll be back once I'm done with it:

[Spell your first name backwards]: IX. 9. (-__-;;)
[How old?]: 18 (Yeah, baby. Now I get all sorts of useful privileges like joining the army, getting married, smoking, getting tried as an adult....)
[Where do you live?]: Currently L.A. Home is in San Mateo, CA
[When's your birthday?] 10/13/1985
[What school do you attend?] UCLA (or, as someone likes to call it...oocla)

DESCRIBE YOUR . . .
[Wallet]: Jean-colored, looks like....uh...a normal wallet? It's very flat b/c I have very few cards and very dirty b/c it's been in my backpack, which mysteriously collects a lot of dust on the inside.
[Jewelry]: Um...uh....well...umm....hmmm....does this watch somehow count?
[Shoes]: Right now I'm wearing....well....not sure what it's called....kind of a cross between tennis shoes and keds?
[Handbag]: Black, with red interior. I like it a lot but never actually use it.
[Favorite top]: Well, right now, this black shirt with a picture of Grumpy on it. It's too ugly to wear outside, but I like it for a particular reason.... XD
[Perfume]: Hmm...never really wore perfume....didn't bring any to college anyway.
[Describe what you are wearing now]: White Tommy Girl shirt and jeans.
[In my head]: Is Chen back yet?
[Wishing]: That I'll be able to find my key -_-;; For the long term, that I'd be able to pull off a decent GPA. I'm pretty sure I got 80 on that math midterm. It's curved, so everyone else better have done poorly as well >D
[Talking to]: No one right now. Though some random guy from my Grossman's math lecture just IMed me for no reason and then said he had to go after 3 lines O_o
[Some of your favorite movies]: Can't remember right now...hmm....Memento, Matrix...tons of other stuff that escapes my mind now...
[Something that you are looking forward to in the coming months]: Winter break, kind of. I'm planning to finish every RPG I have (yeah, right).
[The last thing you ate?]: Salad last night at dinner.
[Something that you are deathly afraid of?]: Hm, "deathly afraid of"? Extreme pain?
[Do you believe in love]: Sure ^___^
[Do you believe in soul mates]: Not for everyone, but some people are lucky enough to have them, I think.
[Do you believe in love at first sight]: Not really, but initial attraction is important.
[Do you believe in forgiveness]: Sure. Under certain circumstances.
[If you could have any animal for a pet]: A cat might be cool. Dogs seem too high-maintenance.
[What are some of your favorite pig out foods?]: Anything high in calorie/fat content.
[What's something you wish you could understand better?]: The math textbook, goddamn it! The author Marsden needs to go die!

In the last 24 hours, have you . . .
[Cried?]: No. But I usually cry easily over inspirational commercials and stuff :P
[Gotten sick]: Hm, maybe... I do have a sore throat....
[Sang?]: In the shower b/c no one else was around ^^;;
[Been kissed?]: Oh yeah, haha :P
[Felt stupid?]: When I looked at the answers for the math midterm, yes.
[Wanted to tell someone you loved them, but didn't?]: Kind of. But he knows it already. ^^
[Met someone new?]: If saying hi to random people in the bathroom counts.
[Moved on?]: Nope. Everything's still the same.
[Talked to an ex?]: Nonexistant.
[Missed an ex?]: See previous answer.
[Talked to someone you have a crush on?]: No crush, so no.
[Had a serious talk?]: Yeah, about how much finding a job will suck.
[Missed someone?]: Kind of.
[Hugged someone?]: Yep^^
[Fought with your parents?]: Hm, no, suprisingly.

Social Life . . .
[Best girl friend?]: Blond & non-blond Kim, Lexi, Lynn.
[Best guy friend?]: I think I'll say Daniel, if he counts as a "friend" :P I can pretty much tell him anything ^^
[Would you rather be with friends or on a date?]: Haven't been on an official date, but I'll pick that one anyway.
[Where is the best hangout?]: Probably my dorm. PS2 and DDR draws other people there like a moth to a flame, muahahaha!
[Do you have a job?]: Kind of in hiatus. I cringe when I think back to the Grill.
[Do you like being around people?]: Sure. With people >>>> alone.

Who . . .
[Have you known the longest?]: Other than my family, Elizabeth Liu, who's at Wellesley right now. I hope she's enjoying it^__^
[Do you argue the most with?]: Parents
[Do you always get along with?]: Chen
[Is the most trustworthy?]: Everyone I know seems very trustworthy ^_^ (answer that won't offend anyone ^^;;)
[Makes you laugh the most?]: Charles/Carlus (their gestures are comical even when they're serious...)
[Has been there through all the hard times?]: Definitely not me.
[Is the smartest?]: Everyone seems smarter than I am -_-;; Steven, probably.

PersonaL . . .
[Who is your role model?]: Can't think of anyone. I put parents for all the middle school essays, but that was a blatant lie.
[DO you ever like someone you have no chance with?]: Squall! Haha.
[Have you ever cried over the opposite sex?]: Probably.
[Do you have a "type" of person you always go after?]: Engineers. (Ie, Asian guys w/glasses.)
[Have you ever lied to your best friend(s)]: Of course not... (*shifty eyes*, j/k)
[Ever wanted to get revenge on someone because they hurt you?]: Oh yeah. Don't even get me started. Middle school == hell.
[Rather be dumper or dumped?]: Hm...rather have mutual agreement to break up.
[Rather have a relationship or a "hookup?] Relationship
[Want someone you don't have right now?]: Nope.
[Ever liked your best guy/girl friend?]: Maybe, but probably not.
[Do you want to get married?]: Well, eventually, of course.
[Do you believe you know the person whom you will marry at this point in time?]: We'll see ^^;;;;
[What is your favorite part of your physical appearance?]: Can't think of a thing!
[What is your favorite part of your emotional being?]: Also can't think of a thing!
[If you could change something in your life right now, what would it be?]: Less hw/studying

My Favorites . . .
[Song]: Jay Chow stuff. Hey, I liked him before he got hyped!
[Color]: Don't have one.
[Color to wear]: Black and blue, apparently. Everything I have are in those colors.

More Random Questions . . .
[Do you go to summer camp]: No. And never will! Ah, the painful memories of day camp are enough.
[Pepsi, coke, or dr. pepper?]: Coke. For sure.
[Chocolates or flowers]: Chocolates. Flowers wilt and get kind of disgusting >_<
[Sugar or salt]: Salt.

Have You Ever . . .
[Been in love]: Maybe....if this is what love feels like....
[Been so drunk you blacked out]: Well, not that drunk...
[Went out in public in your pajamas]: No
[Set a body part on fire]: No. I wonder how many people can answer in the affirmative.
[Had an imaginary friend]: No
[Called or seen a psychic]: No

Do You . . .
[Want a tattoo]: No
[Ever have the falling dream]: Yep, very often. Hm...I wonder what that signifies....
[Have a computer in your room]: Ack, how can someone not have one! Incomprehensible!
[Have any regrets]: Of course. College admissions sparked so many >_<
[Are you happy?]: About as happy as I've ever been ^_____^
[Are you talking to someone online?]: Not now. Wasn't this asked before?

Have to spend all weekend working on scary CS project. People are talking about how it took 6 hrs to finish the easiest 3rd.

Wow, that took a while. Yay, Chen's probably back by now.

Ug, midterms over the next 3 weeks, plus difficult-looking CS project -__-;;;
Can't wait.

Friday, October 17, 2003

Hmm...I've been putting off hw and studying forever -__-;;
So this weekend will be a big study-fest! Ack, math midterms next wed. It seems too soon, damn it!

Happy birthday to Chen and me!

Karen/Eric/Charles (and some other people, maybe?) gave us super-cute picture frames as gifts even though we don't know them all that well, which makes me feel bad somehow -___-;;

Sunday, October 12, 2003

Hmm...basically spending more time w/Daniel and goofing off while neglecting homework -___-
Chen went to see Kill Bill with Cynthia and David (new math-guy XD) while I stayed behind. Seemed like it was pretty gory from the way Chen described it.

Okay, coolness~
In our little (slightly awkward/embarassing) chat, Daniel said he likes me ^____________^ (Finally! Geez, how many hints can we drop in our AIM conversations?) Which of course is super cool b/c he's so nice/smart/funny and it's been cool chatting w/him everyday ^^ (Damn that sounds pretty corny --;;) There's not much to do around here, so I don't think there'll be dates anytime soon, but it's still all good. Haha.

And I do (kind of) have a pic of him....he's the Asian guy with glasses (typical engineer, but that's the type I like, haha :P)

I'm jinxing it and I think I've said this before (in mind at least), but college rocks! ^^

Fuck, things were going well but are weird now. Daniel's going to come over and talk about it later.

New math prof rocks, and Life. Is. Good. ^_____^

Hm, so Arnold won. I'm fine with it b/c he has pretty democratic views, and being the moderate I am...

Will be going to 4-hour mandatory Regents meeting later -_-

Only one math discussion today...I have the same TA I had before...but he was actually a little confusing this time. Last time, he made confusing things seem less confusing; this time, he made simple things sound more confusing. I spent a lot of time doing this new math class's hw (which is due tomorrow...-__-), but it was uber-easy and this class is going 1.5 times slower than my other class. So...it's all good ^_____^

We were going to go the TAU bbq thing but didn't find the place in time. Ended up eating at DeNeve w/Lynn. DeNeve is the ultra-expensive hall, so their food seemed a little better...except they didn't have water for some reason... By the time we found the bbq after following the signs through a roundabout path, the event was almost over and everyone was already talking to everyone else. Three anti-social people do not make one outgoing person, so we just left in 10 min -_-;; I don't know how people like Charles can just randomly talk to every person they see...

Yay, I am happy happy happy happy happy! ^_____________^
After a lot of thinking, I decided to risk dropping my math class and putting myself on another class's wait-list.
And I got off of the wait-list in 2 hours! This prof rates 7.7/10 (my old prof was 3.3/10) and is supposedly the best math prof for 32A.
Yay yay yay! Finally a prof who won't make me confused after I read (and think I understand) the book...I hope ^___^;;

Was supposed to study microbio all day but ended up sleeping/going online most of the time -_-
Then people came to play ddr (the mat is now duct-taped to the floor), so that further hindered studying -________-
Might try to switch to different math class's wait-list, but seems risky...will go to ask a/b it today.

Sunday, October 05, 2003

Not so productive day today. Only finished CS project. Brunch/dinner w/Daniel, then talked w/him (along w/Chen) for hours on end :P
Math sucks as usual. Will need to go see TA on Tues.
Tomorrow will be a whole fun day of Microbio reading and re-reading.

There are good days and there are bad ones...and today was a bad day -_-;;

Every class was pretty lame (tho we had a pretty cool math sub prof...who everyone clapped for after class) and Daniel wasn't in my CS discussion ;_; (so I was right about him going to the wrong class!). We were supposed to go to the CSA bonfire thing after class, and I went with Charles/Carlus and some other random people to the meeting place. Except...I remember telling Chen the wrong location of the meetingplace, so Chen/Lynn obviously weren't going to come. I stayed with the people there for a while and then just left because I didn't have anyone to talk to (Charles was talking to some girl)...which of course was super fobbish of me. I know I should be meeting new people, but I really wasn't in a talking-to-random-people mood...so....*sigh*

Went to (madatory?) Regents meeting today...was very late but they took so long getting people pizza that I actually ended up being too early. Their sponsor, Bank of America, was trying to pimp their free (*gasp*) student checking accounts. Exchange:

Bank of America spokesperson: "How many of you already have checking accounts?"
Students: *everyone raises hand*
Band of America: "Are they with your parents?"
Students: (collectively) "NO"
Bank of America: "Oh, but are they free?!"
Students: (collectively, in a duh-way) "YES"
Band of America: "......"

Then went to gym (1st time!) w/some people. Was a little sad b/c I couldn't work the machine controls despite being an engineering major (and electrical, to boot) -_- Apparently rapidly walking stairs continuously for 6 min. only burns 50 calories....

If discussion lets out earlier tomorrow, I'll be going to the CSA (that's the "fobby" Chinese club) beach bonfire thing.

Thursday, October 02, 2003

The TA made things in math a lot better. It was a diff. TA from last time, and at first I wasn't too sure it was a guy or girl b/c he had semi-long hair and was wearing a really baggy shirt (so his figure was indistinguishable)...which reminded me of Ms. Baker -_-. But he turned out to be really cool and was smiling the whole time while doing math and explaining stuff in his stereotypical Vietnamese accent. And the counselor said I probably won't be able to switch to a different lecture, though reading this morning and the TA made me feel a little better about it. I just know we're going to do have to do proofs on the tests though...and they'll have to be done his way...like where we can't assume the Law of Cosines to be true. The book is barely understandable, and prof. Grossman makes things 10 times more opaque with each lecture.

Started playing Grim Fandango today. Supposed to be the best adventure game or something. I'm giving up on it early so that I won't have to be frustrated later :P

And Linda once again evil-ly invited me to a chat again to show off her many friends...except they ignored her....muahahaha! And I got a teeny bit of payback with Daniel's help...though it's pretty "weak sauce", as he puts it.

Wednesday, October 01, 2003

Linda was evil enough to IM me last time and then invite me to a chat with all of her UCLA friends. One guy said he's in my CS class and was in my group for engineering day...but I don't remember who he is! I had to say I couldn't put a face to his name...which is terrible. I was hoping it was the semi-cute guy who talked to me in CS...except I thought his name was something different...ack, I'm so confused. Anyway, that guy I thought it might be didn't say hi to me in CS today, so it might have been him. And he's mad I didn't remember his name >< Oh, and I guess it might have been because I seemed like a heartless bitch in the chat because of that.

No classes yesterday, so I stayed home and did math hw...which eventually resulted in Daniel trying to help me solve a problem over AIM until 2AM (without success, I might add). Then, after another unbelievably confusing math lecture of proofs and more proofs, I had a study session with Victoria and Carlus, in which we collectively decided that the only solution is to switch professors. Now I read on Uclaprofessors.com that Grossman's tests are too theoretical and super-hard. No, now switching is mandatory! Though it would mean that the math hw I've done is wasted -_-;;...
