We were gonna go to the pier on Friday, but ended deciding against it because it would have been cold. So extra uneventful this week.

Just slaved away all night on the CS project. Now I can play a game of battleship between two human players, a computer player and a human player, and two computer players. I also got the tournament thing going, so one can play a series of games between any type(s) of players. All I need to write now is the class of computer players that actually doesn't suck (we need to do two AIs). It's dorky, but I think it's almost kind of cool that we can write this sort of semi-large programs now. It almost feels like a real game ^_____^ (minus the ASCII art).

Went to 3rd Street Promenade with Daniel, Lynn, and Chen after class today to see "You Got Served" (only one theater was showing it). The bus ride was long and semi-excruciating, but at least the movie was okay. The dancing was really really good, and the horrible acting also added entertainment value. I must wonder, however, why people who lived in a neighborhood with frequent driveby-shootings and drug dealing never ever swore once. And some of the actors sounded kind of awkward when saying the ebonic slang. Oh well.

After the movie, we went to a Toys R Us nearby and looked around for a good few hours. I think we were all sadly too fascinated by the stuff there. In the end, Chen and I bought a $2 wind-up fishing toy that we remember playing as children, as well as a $3 board game called "Dragon Strike". More on the latter game later. Afterwards, we took the bus back to Westwood, bought a 10-in-one wooden game set at Aahs for only $13 (it has games like checkers, chess, chinese checkers, etc, and the box also serves well as a mini-writing desk and/or dining table), got boba, and walked back to the dorms, where we tested out the games we bought.

The $3 game "Dragon Strike" was quite amusing. I repeat the price for emphasis because this is a big box with a lot of parts, including a motorized swinging dragon head, and you would think that it cost a lot more. In fact, some stores online list it for $25! Of course, there is good reason for it to have been marked down to $3. The game really sucks, and you'd never want to play it twice. It basically involves players trying to carry plastic crystal pieces out of a cave while a motorized plastic dragon swings its head around and randomly knocks over playing pieces. Really the only entertaining part of the game is the dragon, which amused us for at least 20 minutes...so it's totally worth the $3 we spent on it.

Mom is coming over tomorrow, since she's taking a friend around southern California anyways. (Coincidentally, Daniel's parents are also coming to visit tomorrow.) That'll be pretty cool, though I also have a lot of work to do over the weekend (especially since I didn't get any done today -__-). The next comp. sci. projects sucks hard. It's a battleship game in which the user can play against other users in tournaments and against the computer. This is kind of like the robot game last quarter, except with many many more functions to write and a lot of annoying stuff like recurssion. I'm still not even quite sure how all the classes are supposed to piece together, plus we have to write 2 separate AIs >___< How the hell am I supposed to think up strategy for battleship? >___<

A little delusional from studying CS. Spent a lot of time trying to find a place online to buy cheap soup base. Yes, we've decided that instant soup is the greatest snack.

Downloaded and saw Lion King 1 and 1/2 yesterday. It was surprisingly decent, and kind of clever sometimes ^^

Took an extra credit physics quiz today. Thought it was okay...and it just might save my ass in physics (though do not want to jinx it >__<)

After class, Chen, Lynn, and Dan (who is feeling better) and I made a trip to Westwood, during which we visited random stores like EBGames, a mystery book store, and a scary store full of weird random crap...including -certain- toys -__- Then we ate dinner at a sushi place, where we got a lot for just $6-9 a person. Finally, after a lot of indecision, we visited BlockBuster, became quite disgusted with their failure to stock up on more than one copy of "Lion King 1 and 1/2" (which was checked out -__-), and came back to watch Lynn's Miyazaki DVDs.

Oh, and happy Valentine's Day ^___^

Daniel got food poisoning from tonight's dinner and has been throwing up all night. When I visited him, he looked and sounded so terrible that I started to tear up a little bit just while talking to him. Hopefully he'll feel better by tomorrow. God I hope it's not anything more serious.

Hmm...have not posted in forever.

Let's see....hmm....well I just finished the CS Homework, and so far the class has not been as bad as others have described it. The projects so far take me as long as they did last quarter (except they must've taken everyone else 1/5 the time last quarter b/c they've already knew C++). The physics and math midterm screwed me over majorly though.

Chen went out with a Korean guy from her chemistry class today. She didn't think it was a date, but she came back with flowers and everything, hehe. Plus he paid for the movie they saw. The guy seemed pretty nice (from the one sentence he spoke to me) and semi-cute, I guess :P (And I swear he looks identical to my math TA...who's also Korean -___-)

Oh, and, uh...Daniel's older brother is a EE major at Berkeley who will be graduating this year with a 2-point-something GPA. He went to a job interview a few weeks ago (his first interview), and got the job. Starting salary is $55,700 (which is why his dad is considering allowing him to work a few years before going to grad school). This is very encouraging even though EE still sounds boring ^_^;;

Dan and I might go out to Westwood for Valentine's Day this Friday...but it might be too crowded. Feb 9th will be 4 months, hehe ^_____^ (big happy face)
